Tour with your Cheap Car Hire in Mallorca
Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and probably the most diverse, both geographically and in terms of its attractions. The notoriously built-up resorts around the Bay of Palma may interest the headlines but the island also boasts numerous beautiful rural villages, some of the most luxurious hotels in Spain, superb beaches and coves which remain surprisingly empty even in high season. The capital, Palma de Mallorca, is a vibrant enchanting little city on the water's edge with a buzzy nightlife, a lively tapas culture and some excellent restaurants. There are many things for you to do and see during your time in Mallorca. The best way to explore Mallorca is by renting a car. myCarHire can provide you with a cheap car hire in Mallorca so that you can make your way around the town and nearby cities. During your time in Mallorca do some excursions and discover more about the Spanish island.
Pollenca - Located in the north-east of the island. Visit one of the most attractive towns in Mallorca nestling between two hills, one topped by the Santuary del Puig de Maria monastery, the other by the Calvari Church. Pollenca comes alive each Sunday morning when the square in front of the church is the setting for a busy and popular market.
Cap de Formentor - The drive from Port de Pollenca across this wild and rugged headland has some of the most dramatic scenery in Mallorca with tall cliffs with sheer drops into the sea beside idyllic, isolated beach coves. The first stop is at Mirador des Colomer, where a viewpoint on the left looks out the whole peninsula and the bays of Pollenca and Alcudia.
Coves del Drac - In Porto Cristo the tour begins with a drop of around 100 steps into the dark and humid grotto and continues along 1km of slippery paths, with stalactites, stalagmites and rocky pools. The maximum of the tour is a floating concert on Lake Martel, Europe's largest underground lake, followed by a boat trip to the exit.
Deia - A picturesque village of ochre-stone houses surrounded by olive and orange groves lying in the shadow of the Teix, a mountain 1,064m high. The village has a reputation for attracting writers and artists such as the British poet and author Robert Graves.
Valldemossa - Just 18kms (11miles) from Palma, discover Mallorca's highest town with a spectacular view of the Serra de Tramuntana. This beautiful village is famous as the temporary home of the composer Frederic Chopin. Visit the Real Cartuja de Jesux de Nazaret, the former Carthusain monastery where Sand and Chopin hired a cell.
Mallorca Airport
Palma de Mallorca airport is located 8km (5miles) from Palma de Mallorca. It is the third largest airport in Spain, after Madrid and Barcelona. During the summer months it is a one of the busiest airports in Europe. The airport is a hub for German carrier Air Berlin. It currently handles 25 million passengers per year with 24 hour operation and arrivals around the clock.
